2020 ∙ Fabrication II
Created as a commentary on the dearth of documentation of accurate Black history, this project was a sample for an intended course exhibition. The use of canvas covers was deliberate as a means to repurpose a material which historically has been used in ship sails, the very ships which transported enslaved Black folks through the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Preliminary iterations were made of recycled materials, the final book was made of fine heavy-weight Black paper and other specifically selected materials to create a minimalist yet exquisite artefact intended for the contemporary documentation of history by the Black community.
